Pick a network — see its not-spots

Most people are on one network — pick it to see its not-spots: Ofcom's indoor rating per postcode, plus the places its masts don't reach.

sites — mast sites are guessed from crowd phone reports, so one seen only a few times may not exist. This hides sites seen fewer than N times.

Test the assumptions — range & terrain

Assumed mast range 400 m

Drag to test how far each mast reaches — sites outside every ring turn amber.

Public sites outside the chosen network's mast range, widest gap first. Tick one or more to model them as proposed masts.

The data still withheld

Street-level coverage — obtainedFetched postcode by postcode through Ofcom's API for the whole city and shown in this briefing under Ofcom's API terms (attribution shown, refreshed monthly).

Real mast sites: location, height, powerThe operators know; the public database (Sitefinder) stopped in 2012. This map guesses sites from crowd reports.

Measured signal, not predictionsDrive tests and handset data exist inside Ofcom and the operators; none is published for Winchester.

Where service actually failsOperators log complaints and faults by area. Never published.

Data sources & small print

Ofcom street-level ratings — Ofcom's Connected Nations API, the data behind its coverage checker, fetched per postcode and refreshed monthly. Used under Ofcom's API terms of use ·

Council & public sites — OpenStreetMap (baked snapshot, refreshed live via the Overpass API)
Network masts — OpenCelliD · positions approximate; a mast nearby ≠ good signal
